Could NOT agree with you more,(along with Peter Travers from Rolling Stones magazine), in that DRIVE..WAS, hands down the BEST film of the year. True Romance WAS my FAVORITE film 'of all time'..UNTIL i've seen DRIVE.Just found out recently that you took a BIG liking to that movie as well.It took '17 years' to 'break' that record...and i've seen 'alot' of movies between that time...'nuff said.

Well, Mr. Roeper, you were right on the money with your picks! I finally got to see "Drive" last night and I must agree with you. Why this wasn't a bigger hit in the theaters is beyond me. Ryan Gosling was terrific in this role. Sometimes a restrained performance carries the greatest impact and sets the tone to move the story along.

Loved Drive, agree Brooks should have gotten the nod on the Oscar what a great performance!

Both you and TheMovieBoy.com (Dustin Putman) agree on your #1 movie of the year yet this film has received practically no recognition from the awards season thus far. The performances are great but I think the reason for its non-recognition is that we learn too little about the Driver and thus the story is seemingly myopic in its tale of this particular period of his life.

Hey Richard My name is Skip I have sent in a few videos of my reviews to you over the past year and you have been gracious enough to paste them onyour comment section. I am now gonna say that I disagree with your #1 choice of Drive for best picture but, I like 6 of your Top Ten Picks. I loved The Artist, Contagion, The Descendants and Hugo as much as you did. I still need to see Shame,Tinker,Tailor,Soldier,Spy and Extremly Loud and Incredibly Close so I haven't made up my mind what will be my Top Movie of the year yet but, a lot of you picks will be on my list. The last thing is I think film critics forget about science fiction and comic book movies when they do there review. There are definaely 2 movies in those categories that should get recognition X-Men First Class and Rise of The Planet of the Apes as well asMission Impossible:Ghost Protocal.

@jeff b - Glad to see you let one actor's personal life ruin an amazing film. I'm glad you're not in Richard's shoes who can actually be unbiased in this reviews.

Richard, The Beaver?..........that anti-semite is scum; NOT in a million years should he have a movie in the top 100!!!!

It's refreshing to see that you enjoyed Drive as much as I did. You are my favourite (Canadian here) critic.
