THAT was great. But THAT ONE sucked.
In theaters: Monday, 29 August 2011
Petersaid on Friday, September 30, 2011 7:44:49 PMYou forgot The Company Men! You said you didn't want it lost in the confusion, but apparently it did!
Reply from Richard Roeper Peter:
The Company Men was technically at 2010 release, as it played in a couple of theaters late in the year. I had it on my list of the best movies of last year.
paul rubinosaid on Saturday, September 03, 2011 10:03:44 AMHey Richard,
How come you never reviewed Fright Night (2011)?
Reply from Richard Roeper Hey Paul,
I wasn't able to screen "Fright Night." Sometimes my other jobs (full-time radio host, news columnist, etc.) preclude me from seeing certain movies. Usually I try to catch them before they're out on DVD so I can include them in my DVD reviews. I'm sure that'll be the case with "Fright Night."
Kevin Millersaid on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 10:47:30 PMMy pick for the best film of the year so far is Rise of the Planet of the Apes with X-Men First Class right behind it. The worst movie of the year by far is Spy Kids 4 with the Smurfs right behind it.
Darin Grantsaid on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 12:46:41 PMHey Richard!
Great list for best films of the year, as always!
Just a question, though. What do you think about "Midnight In Paris" as one of the best films so far this year? I know you gave it an A, so I'm just wondering.
Other than that I completely agree with your list except that I would give HP7 the status of Best Film of the Year, so far. I thought "Tree of Life" was amazingly executed and photographed and thought-provoking, but HP7 was just unbelievable. Maybe it's because I'm 20, so I have also grown up with these films, but all the same to me. Keep up the great work, Richard!
Corbin Reesesaid on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 11:37:50 AMThe best movie that I have seen this year in a movie theater is technically a film from last year and is Incendies. I was not able to find your review of it. I remember it was your pick for best foreign language film. I feel that it deserves an A+. What would you give it?
Lisa Suzanne Maria Natale Harper said on Monday, August 29, 2011 2:46:33 PMHI Rich, Your a tough critic. I mean you tell it like it is. You don't sugar-coat things or kiss someones ass. So I pretty much trust your reviews. And I love your column.
Raymondsaid on Monday, August 29, 2011 1:47:39 PMGood list. But the worst movie of the year for me so far is easily hands down The Roommate. Bored me to tears and made me think a second grader can make a better than script than the guy that wrote The Roommate. Far worse than Transformers 3 which at least had top-notch special effects and good use of 3D. Second has to be Season of the Witch. Good god i like Nicholas Cage well at least used to but i almost wonder how does he keep making movies with movies like that and The Wicker Man. Your Highness was awful as well. Green Lantern was the worst superhero movie of the year although The Green Hornet wasn't very good either.
