Once we get past McConaughey’s stunning transformation, we’re transfixed by a performance that reminds us of why this guy became a movie star in the first place.

Mikesaid on Wednesday, July 09, 2014 7:41:17 AMThe entire cast is excellent here. Jennifer Garner gives the best performance of her career. She should have been nominated for Best Supporting Actress. It is widely believed that the Academy was sympathetic to McConaughey and Leto because the Academy usually favors actors who play people who are terminally ill (Tom Hanks in "Philadelphia" for example.) or are handicapped. However they both gave excellent performances and were deserving of their awards. It's alittle formulaic (The little guy going up against the big evil government that seems unstoppable.) however "Dallas Buyers Club" works on every level. An excellent movie.
