I agree that the movie was flawed, but I thought DeNiro was wonderful. I haven't seen him in a role like this. I really felt for his character. I thought the movie fell short with most of the kids. I didn't really believe them as siblings. T especially disliked Kate Beckinsale. Drew Barrymore was the only one that stood out for me.

I wasn't as bothered by the dream scene. I found it rather inventive actually.

I'm a little curious about your letter grade system. Is there an official grade that would be the cutoff between a movie you'd recommend and one you wouldn't? Perhaps where your opposable digit might point skyward vs. hellward?
