Not that there was anything more cringe-inducing than Twilight's "You better hold on tight, Spider Monkey" ick factor in this movie. Other than the 'romantic' gesture of hand-sucking out a bee stinger in front of admiring strangers. A couple small details really bothered me. We get that the Mom was a punk rocker. The slightly garish make-up meant to remind us of this fact and provide a foil of sorts to the Moretz character (whose make up is deftly done in a very natural way, so that you almost don't notice that she's wearing any, until at the coffee shop with a high school friend who is NOT made to look effortlessly beautiful) makes Mireille Enos look like a cartoonish hag. Which she is not; she is a beautiful woman. CGMoretz is solid in this cheese fest. Delicious for the theatre full of teenagers.
