Simply throwing on 80s-style clothes and an 80s soundtrack doesn't take care of the 80s atmosphere requirement. Adventureland failed on that aspect, and Take Me Home Tonight seems to do the same. For me, Hot Tub Time Machine nailed it and really brought me back to the 80s. Too many current movies feel more like people who weren't there trying to throw an 80s-retro dance.
