Liz Lemmonsaid on Saturday, March 01, 2014 10:58:52 AMMcConaughey should win for his work in "True Detective". I saw "Dallas Buyer's Club" after watching several episodes of True Detective and he is superb. As a result I found his performance in DBC to be underwhelming. He was fine, but that doesn't compare to superb. Leto had a much tougher role to pull off and he did it perfectly.
Jonathan Lemmonsaid on Sunday, February 16, 2014 3:42:56 PMIf Gastby doesn't win anything, I'm going to get defensive. Also I think Leo DiCaprio might win for Wolf of Wall Street. Then again I haven't seen Dallas Buyers Club so I can't compare Leo to Mathew McConaughey. But I'd be fine with either of them winning. Jared Leto is also a sure fire win just from watching the trailers. And everything else you said is pretty much right on. Though I still consider the snubbing of Tom Hanks, Prisoners, Forest Whitaker, and Pixar's The Blue Umbrella to be the real tragedy of 2013.
