Do I think Stark is funny? Yes. Do I think Thor is badass? Yes. Do I think the Hulk is entertaining? Yes.

But when I saw the film I was way more fascinated with Captain America, Hawkeye and the Black Widow. I'm much more entertained by the hand-to-hand combat than all of the special powers and gadgets. Don't get me wrong, I like those too but I love the more-grounded nature of the other three.

I don't know, maybe I'm crazy. Maybe it stems from my lifelong obsession with Batman.

I have to agree that Stark, Thor and The Hulk are the best three heroes in the film. But aside from Iron Man's wit, the Hulk really steals the show. He's obviously the most powerful hero of the group, only Thor comes close. I haven't seen people love a superhero movie so much. I've seen 60 year old guys act like kids at this movie. What makes this movie so good is that through CGI, they can now do what they do in cartoons. Only sad part is we have to wait over two years for the sequel to come out.

Think you're underestimating Cap, Jan. In the comics, he's defeated all of the guys you've ranked above him. Pure hand-to-hand combat? Not always, but Cap's #1 strength is his skill as a tactician. One way or another, he's taken all of those guys down. This man is THE hero of the Marvel universe, for reasons far exceeding brute strength.

And Roeper referring to his shield as a "garbage can lid" is ignorant; did he miss the part where it repelled Mjolnir, Thor's hammer and one of the best weapons in the universe? That shield is one of the most powerful objects in the Marvel universe and has required so pretty extraordinary circumstances (Thor being empowered by the Odinsense, for one) to put a dent in.

Likewise, the dismissal of Hawkeye and Black Widow just came off as flippant. Were they the most compelling characters in this film? No. But the skills? You're seriously questioning the skills? They're the two characters in the film who can exist in real life. If you don't think covert female agents can beat up Russian thugs, Roeper, you need to take a trip to Quantico and see some in action.

As far as Nick Fury goes... wait for the prequel, Billy. :)

I watched the The Avengers and it was FREAKING AWESOME! I like them all but the Hulk/Bruce Banner STANDOUT among the rest. Mark Ruffalo did an AMAZING job and he gave JUSTICE to Hulk/Bruce Banner compared to the other 2 Hulk movies. Marvel and Disney made an EXCELLENT decision for giving the role to Mark Ruffalo. We NEED a new Hulk movie of Mark Ruffalo! WE NEED MORE!

My favorite will always be the Hulk from the Marvel Universe. I loved Lou Ferrigno in the 1970s tv drama. Both Hulk movies were so much fun to watch. Hulk throwing tanks, jumping on helicopters, flying into space on the back of a jet, and slugging it out with Abomination is so ambient energy. The Hulk video games are always my return to favorites for replayability. I just smile with the "don't make me angry, you won't like me when I'm angry". How cool is that? The best movie of the Marvel Universe is of course "Iron Man". However, the other movies were close runner ups. I raise my bowl humbly and ask "more please?"

Somewhat spoiler alert to folks who haven't seen the movie yet

My list was somewhat similar, I ranked them based on strength/skills. Basically who would win a battle between them. Here is my personal list:

#6: Black Widow
#5: Hawkeye
#4: Cap America
#3: Iron Man
#2: Thor
#1: Hulk

I was least impressed with Black Widow and her shooting with simple hand guns. Hawkeye was amazing with his weapon and could easily take out Black Widow from a distance (up close he would not).

Captain America is great, but him fighting against a demi-god or the Hulk would not end well from him. He could get a few licks in with Iron Man, but Iron Man could easily defeat Cap America.

Now the fight with Thor and Iron Man was awesome. Unfortunately, it would eventual end with Thor winning because he was damaging Iron Man's suit through the coarse of the fight. So eventually Iron Man would lose only because his suit couldn't continue on. Its technology vs god powers.

Now Hulk vs Thor would be interesting. Thor was seriously getting hammered by Hulk and needed his hammer to do any impact to the Hulk. Plus these two seem to have the ability of not dying, so the fight would just drag on, but the Hulk demonstrates more of the stronger force compared to Thor as shown in the movie.

However, my favorites in this movie were the following:

1) Iron Man
2) Hulk
3) Cap America
4) Thor
5) Hawkeye
6) Black Widow

From those, I think Hulk or Cap America are more closely aligned with my personality.

What are other people's list in terms of favorites, skills, and personality?

I loved this movie!!!

I understand that these charactors do not have the same level of strength when compared with each other. It would be a idotic stradgy to put black widow on the same team with the Hulk on the battle field, since they serve such very different functions. Black Widow is basically a spy. Having said this, she adds a bit of flexability to the team in what she can do behind the scenes, and she is a fan favorite. One of the most impressive things about this film is that such a small tallent (she isn't even a super hero) was shown well in this film with these other heros. I like the way Captin America became a natural leader and stratagist, and then found a way to use every member of the team where they would count. I like the Captin's personality. My two favorite moments were Hulk moments. Who didn't laugh when (spolier allert!!!!!!!!) Loki tried to monolouge the Hulk. The ballance of these personalities and all the events of the film was amazing.
Thanks,
David C

My favorite is also Tony Stark/Iron Man and my least favorite is Black Widow, although Scarlett Johannson is so hot.
