By far, 'Shutter Island'. No film has impressed me more so far this year. Surprised I didn't see Polanski's 'Ghost Writer' on your list. Liked 'Hot Tub Time Machine' but as for being funnier than 'The Hangover', I'd have to strongly disagree with you. Generally, I'm with you though. I'm certain Nolan's 'Inception' will make it on your best-of list!

You are right about "Shutter Island," definitely the best movie so far this year and best performance as well. I also agree that "Cop Out" was a disappointment and that "Hot Tub Time Machine" was the best comedy. I feel fortunate that I stayed away from "When in Rome" and "The Bounty Hunter." However, I'll put in my two cents for worst film(s) of the quarter, and I have a tie. Those films would be "Valentine's Day" and "The Wolfman." "Valentine's" was devoid of laughs and wasting an extremely talented cast, and "Wolfman" also wasted its cast and drowning it in horror cliches, with the only grace note being the well-done transformations.

Nice job! I've seen maybe ten films so far this year, and Shutter Island is the best, so thank you. I now hope never to see When in Rome.

Ray A.O. Scott also liked New Moon over Shutter Island.

Thanks for the great comments, we are watching Shutter tonight and can't wait. If you are Scorsese fans...
we just uploaded a video parody of the "Funny How?" scene in Goodfellas. Please share this link with every Scorsese and Goodfellas fan you know or introduce a friend to it. Thanks, BFD Animation.

I love Shutter Island, but it's actually only #3 of the year for me. #2 is The Ghost Writer and the best film, IMO, of 2010 is Green Zone. Matt Damon actually deserves best actor too, even though Leonardo Dicaprio is great too.

I 100% Agree with you that Shutter Island was great and Bounty Hunter was TERRRIBLE! .. Butler & Anaiston WERE horrible! ..I Think the best film of the year so FAR is Hot Tub Time Machine! ..

How do you feel that a certain someone picked New Moon over Shutter Island? (I won't mention his name, but it rhymes with Schmichael Schmillips.)
