I found Somewhere to be a very frustrating viewing experience. Coppola gives us two wonderful characters we become invested in, but doesn't really provide a story for them to fill. Instead the movie basically left me feeling like a voyeur having done nothing more than observe two people going through life for a period of time.
The final scene was especially frustrating. I have no problem with an open-ended story which leaves the audience to decide for themselves what happens. However, because Somewhere doesn't have a clear narrative, there is no real context to help the viewer guess what happens after the camera fades to black.

Somewhere in "Somewhere" there is a movie. Absolutely nothing happens. Do I really need to see him drive ten times around a track, or watch him sit there and wait while the mould on his face hardens. Pretentious city.
