The area that likely lacks in this movie for many critics is character development of the main characters. What I found brilliant was that all the help developed as a whole. Also a surprising development is that of the journalist's mother, who may get over her cancer as a result of releasing long held suppressed self-hatred. Another critique, that the wealthy white house wives are over-simplified can be negated by the fact that they are being portrayed from the perspective of the help. I usually lean towards guy movies like 'Moneyball' but I think this is a very proud and memorable chick flick and maybe the best of this dissapointing year in movies.
