This review was a complete fail. Emil Stenz was nothing like Hans Gruber and WHD actually made the taking over an inside job with diversions which makes sense and isn't just a moronic air raid like OHF did. The film makes plenty of sense and doesn't try to be too serious. The critics were just too harsh on it.

An "F"? Seriously?

I'll take your word for it, I rarely see you give anything an "F"

I love how neither Roeper nor anyone in this god forsaken comments section understand that this film is SELF-AWARE

Old, greedy, power-hungry war-mongering white men vs. peace-loving black president -- what a great idea for a movie! So original, so hip, so true! No left-leaning, self-congratulatory stereotypes here, no siree. No disgustingly overweight midwestern couple asking annoying questions, no leather-vested white-supremacist mercenaries, no overarching evil from the corporate WAR MACHINE -- on no wait, that was another movie, Olympus Has Fallen. White House Down has all of that . . . and more. More agenda driven predictability than anyone might want to sit through. It turns out that America's enemies are her own people. Oh boo, not again!

While there were some funny moments and the special effects are great, the movie overall was pretty terrible. As Roeper notes, they repeatedly put the little girl in mortal danger (which is supposed to fit the funny tone of parts of the movie how?) and the characters (not to mention the army/govt outside the White House gates) always make the stupidest decision possible. Also, the media gets info in literally minutes that would normally take months to uncover.

I'd say a 'D' is fair, but I can live with his 'F'.

The president wears Jordans and shoots a bazooka. An F looks good to me.

An F? That's a little rough. It had some good actors in it (James Woods, Jamie Foxx, Maggie G.) They did what they could with it. There were some funny moments. It didn't deserve an F. "The Ugly Truth" deserves an F. I walked out of that one after thirty-five minutes. You devalue the F when you give it to a movie that is meerly mediocre.

Oh who am I kidding? The title and poster alone made me forget this. The thought of seeing this movie makes me wonder if I have what it takes to be a movie critic.

I feel like someone (in this case, Mr. Roeper, you) have taken a bullet for me. I thank you.

Isn't JF an Oscar winner? What's he doing in this dreck?
